I began having anxiety attacks in 2009. The first attack left me confused because it seemed to come out of nowhere. What initially appeared to be an isolated incident, became more and more frequent and eventually became a daily occurrence. They became so severe that I stopped doing a lot of the basic things that I enjoyed. I sought help via therapy, medications and copious amounts of reading. Nothing ever seemed to fit.

One day, I figured out that this was not my first battle with anxiety. In reality, I had been dealing with anxiety since I was a child. Because I had never had an anxiety attack before, I assumed that my first attack was my only experience with it. I was wrong about that and about many other things. I came to the conclusion that, not only was I wrong about the start of my anxiety, I was wrong about why I was anxious. Once I understood that I had dealt with and beaten anxiety before, I knew that I could do it again. Through study of my prior habits as well as reading everything I could get my hands on about the causes of anxiety and the science behind it, I created a plan to control my anxiety. It worked!. It worked for me and for others around me.

This book is the result of my hard work to solve my own anxiety. It contains two parts: the story of my journey to beat my anxiety and the no frills plan that I used to improve my life. The plan is simple enough for anyone to understand but flexible enough for everyone to adapt to their needs. Life does get better, I am proof.
